Essential Skills Teacher
Our classroom is a class for students with special needs at the middle school level (6-8 grades). We teach academics along with Life-Skills, vocational skills, social skills, and independence skills. We also try to include special classes like art, music, and FACS. Some of the items are to help students with emotional regulation. We try to provide a space in the room that allows them to go and have low sensory input and regulate themselves to be able to participate in classes. We also try to provide different flexible seating options. At this time I am trying to build our library up with books that not only are on their reading levels but are of high interest.
