ELA and ELA Intervention
Teaching is my 3rd career, and this is the best one yet. I love seeing the students make connections in their own lives with the characters from our books. Especially with Anne from "Anne of Green Gables," my students were invested in Anne's development and growth because they could see themselves in her. Seeing her mistakes and her growth after them helped my students see that mistakes don't define them; it's how they respond and learn from mistakes that develop their characters. Getting to see my students face challenging books and succeed is amazing every year. We also tackle a tough read in William Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar." I am amazed that my 11/12-year-old students get excited to try to understand and act out Shakespeare. It's exciting to see how much my 6th graders comprehend from such a challenging text. They rise to the occasion and flourish!
