Helping my students lessen the burden of buying supplies
I’m Mrs. K. Davis and this will be my second year teaching. I left the corporate world of IT last year to follow my passion and become a teachers. Last year I was a 6th grade math teacher. What a ride that was. I grew so much as a person and an educator. Teaching in a low income district at a Title I school pushed me to be more than just an educator to my scholars. I had to be a sister, a counselor, a friend, a confidant, and a second mom. One thing I realized was that even tho my classroom supply list was small, the majority of my students couldn’t afford what I required. It broke my heart. When I would talk to the parents, they expressed sadness and would be embarrassed because they didn’t have the money to buy what their child needed. I never want a parent to feel like less than and I never want a student to be embarrassed because they don’t have. My mission in to supply all of what they need. Whatever I need them to have, I want to already have it for them. Thank you for your support
