My first year of teaching was filled with moments I’ll never forget—some full
of joy, others full of challenge. Like many new teachers, I walked into the
profession with open arms and an open heart, ready to give my all. What I
didn’t expect was how hard it would be to do it alone. Without the tools,
support, or resources many classrooms take for granted, I did my best to create
magic out of what little I had. I poured time, energy, and my own savings into
building a learning space—but as the year ended, I had to leave everything
behind and start over. This year, I’m determined to create something better—not
just for myself, but for the incredible students I get to teach. This wishlist
represents more than just supplies. It’s a chance to build a safe, creative,
and welcoming classroom where students feel seen, supported, and excited to
learn. Every book, pencil, chair, or classroom tool on this list helps lay the
foundation for a stronger year—for them, and for me. Your support means more
